Dear [firstname],
The Dynamics CRM 2011 upgrade cycle is in full swing, and the biggest trend we’re seeing so far is the move to the cloud. The online deployment option (http://crm.dynamics.com) has quickly become the default option for small-to-medium organizations and departmental rollouts, as the traditional arguments in favor of cloud (no server infrastructure) have been reinforced by improvements in the Dynamics CRM 2011 Online feature-set (custom SSRS reports, plug-ins, Web Resources).
Assuming Microsoft executes well on Office 365, the trend will become even more dramatic. For example, tight integration between Dynamics CRM and SharePoint offers significant benefits. But currently it’s only available if you install the CRM 2011 List Component on your SharePoint 2010 server…which only works for on-premise SharePoint. In the meantime, here’s an excellent article on the topic: Dynamics CRM Online and Office 365: Overview and Roadmap.
And if you need to upgrade your skills along with all the great new features, I’ve got some good options for you, and these work equally well for all deployment options!
If you’ve got a good handle on CRM 4.0 and need an efficient way to learn the most important new features of the 2011, consider my Dynamics CRM 2011 Essentials series: live online 4-hour sessions monthly, fresh topics each month, plus you get the recorded sessions. Available in two tracks – one for customizers and one for business users – the Essentials combine the effectiveness of instructor-led with the convenience of self-paced. Find out more here…
If your IT staff needs to learn how to deploy and customize, consider my Dynamics CRM 2011/XRM Bootcamps. Usually delivered in-person, always customized to your requirements, these come in five- and ten-day programs, and are your best bet for fast ramp-up for your customizers, developers and administrators.
In the sidebar you will find links to the most popular recent articles on my blog, a summary of and link to an interesting recent Forrester report and a few other tidbits.
Please let me know if you have any questions on these or related topics, and thanks again for your support!

Forrester Report on Economic Impact of Dynamics CRM 2011
Forrester recently released an interesting report that attempts to quantify the benefits and costs of a Dynamics CRM 2011 deployment. The report was commissioned by Microsoft, but it’s got plenty of substance.
If you’re considering deploying any CRM, you could do worse than to study the cost/benefit/ROI model Forrester describes in this report.
