Dynamics CRM 2011 Certifications
July 11, 2011 – If you’re interested in getting certified on Dynamics CRM 2011, bookmark this page! Currently it’s not much, but I’m going to use this as my official repository of information re. CRM 2011 certifications, and as I develop certification-centric content, including prep questions for the exams, I’ll post the links here.
For now, let’s start with the basics:
Exam MB2-866 — Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Customization and Configuration
This is my favorite of the three core exams. The main differences between the 4.0 and 2011 versions? Certainly Solution Management is the biggest one, but a couple of other features — charts, team ownership of records — also are new and figure prominently. Links, starting with the Microsoft exam page:
If you’re preparing to take this exam, consider my 4-hour test-prep session coming up on October 28!
Exam MB2-868 — Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Applications
Applications, gotta love it. (Especially the official curriculum! ) Sales, Marketing, Service Management, Service Scheduling. Some things are the same as the 4.0 exam version: don’t take the exam without understanding service scheduling and the scheduling engine, for example. Some things are new: inline filtering and visualization (charts), and goal management, for example. Links:
Exam MB2-867 — Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Installation and Deployment
What’s different from 4.0? Hmmm…where do we start? IFD is the big one, but there are plenty of other important changes that feature prominently: server infrastructure, deployment manager, upgrading, and reporting extensions for SSRS are perhaps the most important.

As I said, more CRM 2011 specific will follow, but for now, if you want to see the kind of stuff I did for the CRM 4.0 certifications, here are some samples:

I’ve got a page of information about the exams and the certification tracks for MCTS and MCITP (as far as we can work out by reading between the lines at this stage), and lots of links:
http://wp.me/p2I5L-7q
A second page covers the official MOC courses which are available to help people learn the skills which are tested in the exams:
http://wp.me/p2I5L-7u
This second page includes a link to the course page for “Extending Dynamics CRM 2011″ which is not yet available but the course number has been assigned, so we know what the URL will be when it is released in August. This course is not specifically covered by any of the exams, but is certain to be a useful part of any consultant’s skillset.
Hope these pages and links help someone!

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the comment. Nice review of the MOC courses, btw. I just posted a comment there on your review of the Applications courses for CRM 2011. Being the principle author of those four courses, I was quite interested in what you had to say! Cheers — Richard
