Working with Multiple Currencies in Dynamics CRM
Recently I’ve been using a remarkable add-in for Dynamics CRM. It’s called CoreMotives and the best three-word description I can come up with for it is “integrated digital marketing”. This article is NOT about CoreMotives, but it’s a testament to the usefulness of the tool that it’s already making cameo appearances in articles about different topics. Currencies and Exchange Rates, for example.
Actually, there is a tie-in: one of the things CoreMotives does is provide tracking of things like visitors and page views to web pages and sites I specify. Big deal, you say, Google Analytics and lots of other tools already do that. Aha! — I respond — but they don’t do it in my CRM the way CoreMotives does! For me, information about my customers and potential customers is inherently more useful if it’s in the same place as my customers and potential customers: in my very own Dynamics CRM Online. More on CoreMotives soon, but for now, figure 1 shows a representative set of “Web Page Views” records. (CoreMotives adds a few custom entities — like this one – into your CRM.)
I’ve been using it for about a month, and it’s always struck me how many of my blog’s visitors are from outside the U.S. Today for the first time I downloaded the data to Excel, and here’s a screen-shot of a Pivot Table that made me think about currencies and exchange rates:
For the last month or so, a little more than 50% of the Trick Bag’s visitors have been from outside the US! (I know a pie chart would tell the story better, but I just love those pivot table visualization rules!) I’m not sure why that surprised me, but it did, so this video on Multiple Currencies and Exchange Rates in Dynamics CRM is dedicated to those of you to whom understanding this topic is just as important for doing your job as it for passing the Customization and Configuration exam. Cheers.
